Millions excitedly watched the morning of April 29, 2011 as Catherine Middleton wed Prince William of Wales in a breath-taking gown designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen fashion house. The dress was inspired by the one worn by Grace Kelly, the day she married Prince Rainier of Monaco. The French Chantilly lace and English Cluny lace adorning the gown were hand sewn throughout the skirt, underskirt and bodice. Critics praised Ms. Middleton’s elegantly polished wedding day look, which has paved the way for lace to take center stage for fall 2011 and winter 2012 affairs.

Once thought only as a delicious start to the morning, people are flipping over the latest dessert trend for 2011 celebrations…pancakes!

Yes, that right! Offering flavors like red velvet, chocolate, banana and chocolate chip, are an ingenious way to present a comfort food known to all with a forkolicious twist! What I love most about this dessert is it’s adaptability. Pancakes can be cut into decorative shapes, stuffed with gastronomical fillings and elegantly presented at a formal affair.

For a creative alternative, a chef attended station offering multiple flavored pancakes and an assortment of fillings and toppings is sure to excite. What fillings do I recommend? Cheesecake, Nutella, bananas foster, hot fudge, cream cheese and your favorite jam. Toppings? How about chocolate syrup, fresh whipped cream, Ghirardelli white, milk, and semi-sweet chocolate chips, fresh fruit (pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, bananas), chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds), M & M’s and sprinkles. Oh, and you won’t want to forget a scoop of creamy chocolate and/or vanilla bean ice cream!
