Ever wonder if dreams really do come true? The talented cast at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings would happily say so. For the past 20 years they’ve been magically making couples wedding dreams a reality. Last week I had the pleasure of attending their Platinum Anniversary Celebration along with Carley Roney – cofounder and editor in chief of The Knot, Inc., David Tutera – celebrity party planner and host of My Fair Weddings, Michael Shettel – Vice President of Alfred Angelo, as well as, other industry professionals from around the country I respect and admire.
As the chartered bus pulled into the entrance of Franck’s Studio at the Walt Disney World Resort, our eyes were drawn to a sea of color perched atop a few large round tables draped in vibrant turquoise fabric. My eyes began to twinkle and my heart filled with glee.
There decoratively displayed for all to enjoy, were oodles and oodles of brightly colored confectionary treats!
While approaching the tables to take in the miraculous site, a gentleman in a tuxedo offered our lively group champagne.
A champagne and candy reception…are you kidding me? I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Lollipops, rock candy, salt water taffy, Jelly Belly’s, etc. overflowed from the sunny yellow take out containter I used to collect sweets.
High on sugar, we piled into the first few rows of seats at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion. Korri McFann, Worldwide Marketing & Business Development Director for Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings gave us a warm welcome and announced for the first time that couples will be able to tie the knot Disney style at the new Aulani Resort in Ko Olina, Hawaii and aboard the Disney Dream, the newest ship in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet.
All eyes were upon Michael Shettel as he unveiled Alfred Angelo’s latest creation, the Cinderella Platinum Anniversary Gown available to brides late summer of 2011. It’s absolutely gorgeous! There’s no doubt brides will feel and look like a princess in this stunning gown.
The lovely Carley Roney, provided a glimpse into the average age and budget of today’s brides from around the country. Did you know in New York, women are typically walking down the aisle at 32 years old and spend an average of $71,000 for their big day?
You know that feeling you get deep down inside when you’re in the presence of someone you adore? When the double doors flew open at the back of the Wedding Pavilion and in walked David Tutera, that’s exactly how I felt. He’s charming, charismatic and in my opinion a genius when it comes to planning the perfect party. Wondering what the hot color for weddings will be towards the end of 2011/beginning of 2012? According to David Tutera, the focus will be on the color red!
Just as we thought our time at the Wedding Pavilion was coming to a close…dance music filled the air, the double doors once again parted and bopping down the aisle came bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Outside the pavilion, we applauded as the fireworks exploded and the couple rode away in Cinderella’s carriage. It was a fairytale ending to an incredible afternoon.
For us though the party wasn’t over, the celebration was just beginning! Our next stop…a candlelit dinner at Italy Isola in EPCOT.
Join me again Monday, as I take you to EPCOT at Walt Disney World in Florida for an unforgettable V.I.P. dinner under the stars. It’s Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings 20th anniversary and you’re my date!
