Eileen Kanter is the petite dynamo behind Diva With A Fork, L.L.C., formerly Events By Eileen, L.L.C. and Let’s Celebrate Showcase, a luxury Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Wedding and Social Event experience. Her passion for food, fashion, wine and travel make her celebrations, tantalizing to the senses!
Eileen was first introduced to the art of event design a few months before the start of her freshman year of college, while working for a florist who specialized in dramatic event décor. Torn between her new found love of event design and the desire to educate children, she made the difficult decision to continue on her original career path. After graduating from the University of South Florida, with a B. A. in Education, she immediately began a life in the classroom. Eileen loved teaching, especially children hindered by learning issues. She knew all too well their frustrations and lack of self-esteem, because she at the age of fifteen had been diagnosed with a learning disability. Therefore, Eileen taught her students the strategies she developed to retrain her brain. As a result, her students not only learned to process information, but scored better on standardized testing than students without learning disabilities. It seemed as if she had found her true calling, but Eileen knew the event planner/designer in her was her passion!
The opportunity to share that passion with others came a few years later, when Eileen became engaged to her Prince Charming…the C.P.A. Chefy. As she meticulously planned her wedding, it became obvious to family and the professionals she hired for her nuptials, that her talents belonged in the event industry. To test the waters, she designed a few celebrations for friends. Before she knew it, the phone began to ring with friends of friends asking for help in planning their upcoming events.
Therefore, with the support of her family, ten years ago Eileen left the world of teaching to open an event planning and design firm in Tampa, Florida. Her professionalism, creativity, attention to detail and enthusiasm for learning has earned her much respect from peers and clients.
Eileen’s talents go beyond typical event planning and design. She grew up in a home deeply rooted in the belief of giving back to her community. In keeping with those values, Eileen has held positions on various boards of nonprofit organizations near and dear to her heart.
Being a part of those organizations has allowed her the opportunity to volunteer in her community, while learning the inner workings of nonprofits, fine tuning leadership skills and mastering the art of fundraising. Pair these elements with Eileen’s unique sense for anticipating what people enjoy during a social event and you have the recipe for fabulously successful fundraisers! This past year, Eileen began providing consulting services to nonprofits around the country, sharing with them the art of successful fundraising in an up or down economy.
Eileen and her soul mate, Brad A/K/A the C.P.A. Chefy Hubby are the proud parents of three handsome boys and a schnauzer. When not working, Eileen savors dining out, vacationing…especially with her family to Walt Disney World, searching for the best sour apple martini, spending time with friends, shopping for anything and everything and relaxing on her deck, enjoying a good book with a glass of Riesling in hand.
